Description
This is the view that Frederic Church had in front of his studio at Olana. It overlooks the Hudson River Valley. It was one of the most perfect days I've ever had for painting en plein air. I've written a blog post about the experience:

Anne "No wonder he lived here" indeed -- I eould live there! The use of the three thin lines of purples is brilliant, exactly counterbalancing the 3 bright trees in the foreground, in shape,,color, and area of focus. (the trees, btw, remind me of Grant Wood's trees, and this is a very good thing -- he was a great landscape painter!

Hi Ken, Thank you so much for this thoughtful, supportive feedback! I learn so much from other people's perspectives. I'll have to check out Grant Wood's work, I don't think I know him.

I love the plump stylized trees in this beautiful pastel, Anne. Thank you for picking my painting as your favorite of the day! So much appreciated and now I am thoroughly enjoying your gallery. like/f

My trees used to be even more plump, like lollipops! They are "evolving"... Glad you like my gallery, thanks!
